Lily: Lily P. Laru
Lily was born into a family of gypsy camels who frequently traveled the spice routes and silk road from Persia to Cathay. Her mother was a famous shaking camel and entertained at Oasis roadside gatherings her entire adult life. Lily was one of three daughters and as much as she would have liked to have followed in the footsteps of her mother as did her sisters, she just couldn't get the hang of the shake dance routine. She would wobble and flail around out of control causing pandemonium and panic to ensue. Her father had the bright idea of making her a cosmetician for the show in charge of costumes, wigs and makeup thereby saving the family from banishment at many profitable Oasis rest stops. As an aspiring dancer and actress she was constantly enamored with young camel artists who constantly flocked around her family to watch the show. Unfortunately, it was not Lily they came to see and she became more and more frustrated until she finally ran away after one especially raucous Saturday night performances when several boys referred to her as a plump date. Only to find out they were comparing her to a fruit and not a partner.
Making her way along the silk-road she was discovered by a nomadic camel merchant who immediately saw great potential in her and within a few days was able to get her employment in the camel harem of a rich Magi or Wise Man from Perciopolis dressing and accessorizing his herd. One evening the Magi's head camel jockey approached her to accompany them on a pilgrimage to the east in search of a messiah. Thinking a Messiah was an important guy like a doctor, lawyer or rabbi she quickly agreed hoping to meet him, to fall in love and live happily ever after.
